About the Role

Due to our success in the marketplace, we need to re-evaluate our architecture to ensure we can scale rapidly as demand for our product continues to grow. As the technical lead at Data Sentinel, you will join a team of experienced and driven engineers and consultants to design and own the next generation of our technical architecture. You will work closely with product managers, internal stakeholders, leadership, and engineering team members and will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer.



  • Direct and contribute to software development of the core products and services (~50% of time coding and  troubleshooting, ~50% of time spent performing code reviews, reviewing pull requests, scoping work, etc.)

  • Work with the CTO and product managers to understand the product vision and design scalable solutions that support future growth

  • Research and maintain knowledge of the latest engineering disciplines, best practices, design patterns, and emerging technologies

  • Scope different tasks such as architecture updates, best practice improvements, product development user stories, etc.

  • Monitor and adjust prioritization between non-functional and functional requirements 

  • Provide guidance to the engineering team and help them interpret requirements 

  • From time to time, liaise with clients to ensure all issues are addressed in a timely manner, and that product requirements are met

  • Ensure the team works together to achieve set goals and targets

  • Act as a mentor to new engineers to help them fine-tune their technical skills and improve their industry knowledge

  • Interview and assess prospective engineers as our team grows



  • 2+ years working with distributed big data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Athena, Kafka, Apache Spark, EMR, or Hadoop

  • Experience leading a diverse, remote, product-focused development team

  • 5+ years of software development experience

  • Experience adapting quickly to changing priorities and environments

  • Strong ability to translate product and customer requirements into long-term technical solutions, and communicate those requirements to other engineers

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot production systems and familiar with SRE best practices

  • Demonstrated ability to write clear code that is well-documented, work with simple Git models, and review pull requests

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a self-starter

  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, consultative, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure services. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is preferred but not required

  • Effective time management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Knowledge of and experience with Marketing Technology (MarTech) and data privacy is a plus but not required

  • Experience working in or desire to work in a dynamic startup environment

SALARY RANGE: $150,000 - $200,000 per year plus equity
